We retraced the history and cuisine of Montréal’s immigrant waves on Fitz & Follwell’s Flavours of the Main walking tour. Here we are waiting patiently for a Montréal classic, the Wilensky Special: a delicious hot sandwich of grilled salami, bologna, cheese, and mandatory mustard.

Relaxing in Parc Jarry following our walking tour and shopping for picnic supplies at Le Marché des Saveurs du Québec.

After a fascinating conversation about the challenges of collecting in the digital age, Canadian Centre for Architecture staff gave us a private tour including a rare visit to the underground archives. Among the rows of rare books and other publications, we were delighted to discover an unusual collection of architectural models and toys, a tiny representation of which was on display in the gallery.

Battle Royale: New York vs. Montréal bagel. St. Viateur Bagel Shop in Mile-End offered us the classic Canadian version, hand-rolled thin with a large hole, boiled in water with added honey, and baked in a wood-fired oven.
